Another fun event for children of all ages is the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Polar Express! Based on the immensely popular children’s book, the Polar Express departs from Rockside Station and Akron Northside Station. Boarding starts at 6pm, the train departs at 7pm for a two-hour roundtrip ride, returning around 9pm.  For weekend matinees in December, boarding starts at 11am, trains leave at 12 noon and return at 2pm.   You’ll enjoy hot cocoa and a cookie while elves read the story on the way to the North Pole to pick up SANTA! Wear your jammies as you visit with that jolly old elf! Ticket must be purchased in advance at the website.

Just an hours’ drive from Angel Welcome Bed and Breakfast, Cleveland offers many different holiday events. One fun day is Winterfest 2014 on Saturday, November 29 at PlayhouseSquare. Enjoy horse and carriage rides, live music, shopping, the first ever tree-lighting ceremony at PlayhouseSquare, a fireworks display and more! On December 7th, take part in the 21st Annual Holiday CircleFest. From 1-5:30pm, many of University Circle’s renowned museums, gardens, galleries, churches, and schools open their doors free of charge. Visitors can look forward to live performances from talented musicians, craft making, historic displays of holiday toys, storytelling, live animals, the city’s best gingerbread house competition, ice sculptures, ice skating, and horse-drawn carriage rides.
